Enigma destroys Sifani 15-4 in Cartier Queens Cup play

By Alex Webbe

Enigma (Jerome Wirth, Chris Mackenzie, Sapo Caset and Guillermo Willington) destroyed Sifani (Hilali Noordeen, Matias Torres Zavaleta, Nic Roldan and Juan Ambroggio) this afternoon at the Guards Polo club in an offensive display that garnered them 15 goals while limiting Sifani to a mere four goals in the course of the match in Cartier Queens Cup play.

Enigma entered the contest with a 2-1 record, having defeated HB Polo 13-9 and King Power 12-9 before losing to Zacara in a 15-6 thrashing.

Hilali Noordeen’s Sifani team was 1-1 entering Friday’s game, having lost to a powerful Zacara team by the same margin (15-6) as Enigma and registering a single win against HB Polo (10-9).

The Friday battle was a mismatch if you look at the score sheet with Enigma going up 5-0 in the opening chukker and charging out to a 10-3 halftime lead.

Sifani scored single goals in the second and sixth chukkers and managed two goals in the third against an oppressive Enigma defense.

Enigma tried to atone for the one-sided loss to Zacara the previous week, and was trying to make a positive statement to the rest of the field that they were going into the quarterfinals on a positive note, and had their coordinated attack in playoff mode.

The victory boosted Enigma’s record to 3-1 while Sifani fell to 1-2. Enigma has completed preliminary play while Sifani has one more game to play against King Power, 1-2) on Monday, June 1st.

Cartier Queens Cup play continues with two games scheduled to be played on Saturday. Black Bears (0-2) will be looking for their first win at noon when they meet UAE (1-1) while Lucchese (2-1) will battle for a playoff berth in a 3pm game with Cortium (1-1).
