Mt. Brilliant remains undefeated in
Wanderers classic play

Mt. Brilliant scored its second consecutive win Monday Morning in a 15-7 romp
over a Jan Pamela team that struggled through the opening chukkers of play at the
International Polo Club’s 14-goal Wanderers Classic.

In a penalty-laden first chukker, Mt. Brilliant’s Brandon Phillips converted three penalty
shots for goals while Steve Dalton responded with a single penalty goal for Jan Pamela.

Team captain Bo Goodman scored once from the field and once on a penalty shot in
the second chukker for a 5-1 lead as Jan Pamela was held scoreless.

Jan Pamela finally got it in gear as the third period got underway. Hector Galindo and
Dalton scored penalty goals to open the scoring with Dalton adding another goal from
the field. The Jan Pamela defense buckled down as well, shutting down the Mt. Brilliant
attack time and again. At the end of the first half Jan Pamela continued to trail Mt.
Brilliant, 5-4.

Jan Pamela got steamrolled in the fourth chukker with every member of the Mt. Brilliant
getting on the scoreboard. Juan Monteverde scored the first goal of the chukker
followed by a goal from the field from Goodman. Dalton converted a penalty goal from
Jan Pamela, but Mt. Brilliant regained control and continued their scoring spree. Single
goals from Phillips and Tommy Collingwood closed out the chukker with Mt. Brilliant
holding on to a 9-5 lead.

Goodman added a goal from the field to the Mt. Brilliant total as Jan Pamela could come
up with no more than a pair of penalty goals from Dalton. With one period left to play,
Mt. Brilliant boasted a 10-7 advantage.

Getting no traction from either its offense or defense, Jan Pamela watched helplessly as
Mt. Brilliant scored five unanswered goals for the 15-7 win. Goodman, Collingwood and
Monteverde each scored a goal with Phillips scoring once on a penalty shot and once
from the field.

Phillips scored four of his team-high six goals on penalty shots. Goodman accounted
for five goals, while Collingwood and Monteverde added two goals apiece in the Mt.
Brilliant (2-0) victory.

Dalton set the pace for Jan Pamela (1-2) with six goals. Hector Galindo scored once on
a penalty shot in a losing effort.
